Maxon One 2027.0: Scatter, Procedural Fur in Redshift and an Autograph MCP Server, and What 3D Artists Should Test Before Sending Scenes to a Farm

ยท RenderBob team

Maxon's Fall 2026 release brings 2027.0 versions of Cinema 4D, ZBrush, Redshift, Red Giant and Autograph. The new tools can make scenes much heavier, so a test on a short frame range matters before a long job.

Instanced scatter and render-time fur fill a scene that grows heavier as it approaches a render-farm gate, with a short test-frame range and a version check standing in front.

Maxon's Fall 2026 release brings 2027.0 versions of Cinema 4D, ZBrush, Redshift, Red Giant and Autograph. The new tools can make scenes much heavier, so a test on a short frame range matters before a long job.

What is in the release

Outlets date it differently: Digital Production on 14 October, No Film School on 15 October and RedShark News on 19 October. Details below come from those three and are secondary.

  • Cinema 4D 2027.0. A procedural Scatter system, with a Scatter Generator and Scatter Tag, fills scenes with vegetation, rocks, debris and crowds, with distribution, filtering, clustering and transform controls. MoGraph Fields and Effectors can shape and animate the results. Liquid FX adds foam, spray and bubbles, and animated objects, cameras, lights and nulls can be copied into Autograph.
  • Redshift 2027.0. A reworked memory architecture, a procedural fur system for fur, fibres and knitted textiles at render time, and further improvements to interactive preview.
  • ZBrush 2027.0. A UV Editor and Selection Sets for desktop, plus Spotlight and non-destructive 3D layers on iPad.
  • Red Giant. Scene Light, an AI relighting tool that Maxon describes as depth-aware, for live-action footage and CG renders.
  • Autograph 2027.0. An opt-in MCP server so supported AI agents can answer questions, help with tasks and automate parts of a workflow by natural-language prompt. The articles name no agents and give no setup steps.

What the reports leave open

Digital Production notes that Maxon gave no universal benchmark for Redshift's faster interaction, and gives no detail on the memory changes. None of the articles lists system requirements or GPU notes, and none states pricing. Digital Production says commercial apps are sold individually and through Maxon One, that Autograph is free, and that connected commercial effects can carry their own licences. It also says it plans deeper follow-ups on controls and compatibility.

Why heavier scenes matter for rendering

Scatter makes it easy to fill a frame with instanced geometry, and render-time fur adds detail that costs memory and time. We do not know how either behaves at scale. The practical risks are the familiar ones: a scene that previews well locally can run out of memory, or take longer than expected, on a different machine.

Checks before sending a 2027.0 scene to a render farm

  • Confirm the farm supports the version. Do not assume 2027.0 is available on any service until it says so.
  • Test a short frame range with the heaviest Scatter and fur setups, and note time and memory.
  • Use a fixed render setup and keep the scene's version, plug-ins and render settings in one place.
  • Check licences. Cinema 4D, Redshift and other commercial tools have their own terms on a farm. RenderBob's BYOL path covers Cinema 4D, Maya, Houdini and 3ds Max, but confirm version support before you queue a job.
  • Compare price per frame from a short test, not from a guess.
  • Keep a record of the test settings so you can repeat them.

What to watch

Maxon's own release notes and requirements, independent Redshift benchmarks on large scenes, how the Autograph MCP server is scoped, and farm support for 2027.0.

RenderBob 3 and this story

RenderBob 3 sits on the generative side of the same pipeline: generated clips get their own timeline lane, local or cloud is chosen per clip, and the references and prompt logs stay with the studio beside the 3D work.
