Kuaishou says Kling 4.0 launched on 15 October. The user guide still marks 10-bit HDR and video extension as coming soon, and the company says developer API access will follow. Neither document publishes a price.
What Kuaishou announced
The press release, datelined 16 October and posted the next day, says the model officially launched on 15 October. A single generation runs up to 30 seconds. Omni Reference takes up to 15 assets, and keyframes go up to 10. The release describes combinations of images, videos, subjects, and voices: up to 10 images, 5 videos, and 7 subjects. Kling MCP and the command-line tool are integrated. API access for enterprise customers and developers "will soon" be available. Video extension "will soon" support repeated extensions out to two minutes. On picture quality, the release says Kling 4.0 supports output of up to 10-bit HDR, and that it will also support 4K, 1080p, and 21:9.
What the user guide still marks pending
The guide page we read is dated 14 October. In the overview, 10-bit HDR is marked coming soon, and so is extension up to two minutes. The spec table lists 720p, 1080p, and 4K, aspect ratios of 21:9, 16:9, 1:1, 9:16, and Auto, and two-channel stereo. The dynamic-range row says 10-bit HDR at 1080p and 4K and does not repeat "coming soon" on that line. Our 11 October piece treated HDR as part of the colour pipeline. Hold a delivery until you can export the format the grade needs.
Flash
The guide describes Kling 4.0 Flash as the faster tier: up to 20 seconds, 720p at most, and no start-and-last frames or multiple keyframes. Our note on the staggered launch asked when the full model would ship. Kuaishou's date is 15 October, with the gaps above still open.
What to do now
- Re-run the benchmark shot from your Flash tests on the full model, and keep both outputs.
- Do not book a delivery around HDR, extension, or the developer API until you can use them. MCP and the command line are the automation routes the release says are live.
- Wait for a published price before you compare cost per second with other models.
What to watch
Whether the user guide drops "coming soon" on HDR and extension, a published price, and when hosts expose a 4.0 endpoint. A fal guide had described 4.0 as coming soon, with no date, and we have not re-checked that page.
