Apple announced on 27 October a free November update for Creator Studio subscribers. The reports we read describe generative features for stills and documents, and none mentions video generation in Final Cut Pro.
What was announced
Reports on 27 and 28 October, from Newsshooter, TechRadar and a MacRumors-based summary, give these details. We did not reach Apple's own announcement, so they are secondary.
- Final Cut Pro. MotionVFX content is built in, with thousands of templates, titles, transitions, effects and tools for rotoscoping, tracking and colour grading, at no extra charge to subscribers. Apple's Content Hub gains video assets alongside photos and backgrounds. Newsshooter also lists round-tripping a timeline image to Pixelmator Pro, better keyframe easing, storyline disconnection and 23 new transcription languages.
- Motion. MotionVFX plug-ins for 3D camera tracking and colour grading, and a new Displacement filter.
- Pixelmator Pro. Generate Fill: select an area, describe a change in plain language, and get the edit as layers with automatic masks.
- Logic Pro. A redesigned interface, an enhanced Stem Splitter that can isolate drum parts without the original multitracks, and a redesigned sound browser with on-device audio analysis. A beta assistant sets up tracks and projects from a prompt.
- Keynote, Pages and Numbers. Assistants that understand the document, and Model Context Protocol support so external AI agents can read, edit and automate documents. TechRadar adds that OpenAI models can be used alongside Apple's.
Requirements and prices
The AI assistants are in beta and, per MacRumors' summary, limited to US English. They need an Apple Intelligence-capable device. The Logic Pro assistant and MCP support are Mac-only and need macOS 27. The update reaches the App Store in November, with no date given, free for existing subscribers, and one-time purchases of the Mac apps get the features too. The subscription is $12.99 a month or $129 a year, with education pricing of $2.99 a month. The one-time prices reported are $299.99 for Final Cut Pro, $199.99 for Logic Pro and $49.99 for Pixelmator Pro, Motion and Compressor. Newsshooter says Apple bought MotionVFX in March 2026.
What it adds up to
Our 23 September piece described Final Cut Pro's AI as finding footage you already shot, not generating it. This update adds a generative tool for stills in Pixelmator Pro, assistants for documents and audio, and MCP access for outside agents. It also adds ready-made effects content. None of the reports we read mentions a video generation feature, so the position we described in September looks unchanged for moving images.
Questions to ask
- Which features need macOS 27? The assistants and MCP are tied to it.
- What can an MCP client touch in a document? The reports do not give scope.
- Where does Generate Fill run, and what are its terms? The reports do not say.
- Is the beta assistant useful in your language? US English only for now.
- Do you want the subscription or the one-time purchase? The features reach both in November.
What to watch
Apple's own release notes, the November date, how MCP is scoped, and whether Final Cut Pro adds any generative video feature.
RenderBob 3 and this story
RenderBob 3 comes at the same timeline from the generation side: generated clips sit on their own lane, local Apple Silicon or cloud is chosen per clip, and references and prompt logs stay with the studio, for the shots a footage-search and template suite does not make.
